Statement |
As
far back as I can remember I have had a passion for drawing
and painting. My work is a record of the places I have visited.
I am particularly inspired by the Britsih countryside and
coastlines.
Since I was young I have been fascinated with fabric and
sewing. In this I followed a family tradition of skilled
needle workers right back to my great grandmother. These
interests led me to study at and textiles at school but
it was not until leaving school that I combined the two
in one piece of work. This is how I create most of my work
today with a combination of stitches, paint and drawing.
I find working with fabric very relaxing and I often weave
lengths of fabric inspired by my drawing work.
